Itinerary
Your adventure begins here: As soon as you land at Keflavík International Airport (KEF), we have everything arranged for you to take a comfortable bus that will drop you off just steps away from your hotel in Reykjavik.
In the afternoon, we invite you to discover the essence of the city with a stroll through its lively and colorful downtown, wandering through its vibrant streets and charming corners full of life. The experience intensifies with a visit to the impressive FlyOver Iceland attraction, a visual adventure that will take your breath away. And to end the day, what better way than to enjoy a delicious dinner together at one of the city’s most welcoming restaurants.
We start the second day by savoring an exceptional breakfast at our hotel and then head towards the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, a place that hosts some of the most photogenic landscapes in the entire country.
A day full of natural wonders awaits us: wild coasts, spectacular basalt column cliffs at Arnarstapi, the black church of Búðir, the Búðahraun lava field, the impressive and unique sea pillars of Lóndrangar, and the iconic volcanic origin mountain Kirkjuffel.
With every step, it’s a feast for the eyes and a unique opportunity to capture the unparalleled beauty of Iceland with your camera. Get ready for a day full of inspiration and awe.
We start the day with a sunrise photo session at Kirkjufell, then head towards the stunning landscape of Iceland’s south coast, heading to Hella.
Our first stop will be at Seljalandsfoss, a beautiful waterfall that offers the possibility to be explored in 360 degrees and to walk behind its water curtain. A short distance away awaits the magnificent Skogafoss waterfall, a thundering colossus with a dizzying 60-meter drop. And not far away, we will find Kvernufoss, where you will have the opportunity to get close enough to capture the texture of the water plummeting down to the river below, or alternatively, you can choose to step back a bit and photograph the waterfall framed by snow-covered cliffs.
Each of these stops is a unique opportunity to immortalize the majesty of Icelandic nature and add stunning photographs to your collection.
Today, our journey takes us to Vatnajökull National Park, where we will spend two unforgettable days. But first, a spectacular spot awaits us to enjoy the sunrise: Vik and its black sand beach.
In the afternoon, you will be able to feel the calm and serene atmosphere of the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, where large icebergs float on the crystal-clear surface of the water before drifting out to sea.
As sunset approaches, we will move to Diamond Beach, giving us the opportunity to capture the sunlight shining through the pieces of ice on the shore.
This day is destined to be a unique visual and emotional experience, where nature reveals itself in all its splendor.
In the morning, we will return once again to the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon for our ice cave excursion. The duration of the excursion will be 4 hours, and it is optional and not included in the price of the trip.
We will spend the rest of the day photographing some of the beautiful locations in this glacial area. In the evening, we might have another opportunity to photograph the northern lights, and we will try to capture them over the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon or the nearby Fjallsárlón.
Today, we will head towards the Stokksnes peninsula, where the impressive Vestrahorn mountain awaits us. Its foreground is filled with compositions, from undulating black sand dunes amidst the snow, to grass fields and frozen puddles. Depending on the tide, we may be able to capture the reflection of Vestrahorn on the nearby beach, or the waves crashing around it.
Today, we will delve into the Skaftafell Natural Reserve, a unique place where you will have the opportunity to photograph glacier tongues, lagoons dotted with imposing icebergs, majestic snow-covered peaks, frozen waterfalls, and rivers flowing directly from the glaciers.
For sunset, we will return along the south coast until we reach Reynisfjara beach, where we will capture the imposing pillars of Reynisdrangar from a completely different perspective.
On this eighth day, we will dedicate our time to exploring the three main attractions of the Golden Circle route: Þingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area, and Gullfoss waterfall. Þingvellir is not just a National Park, but also a UNESCO World Heritage site, located in a rift valley created by the separation of two tectonic plates.
In the Geysir geothermal area, you will have the opportunity to photograph the Strokkur geyser, which erupts every few minutes, shooting water and steam nearly 20 meters high. Meanwhile, the nearby Gullfoss waterfall offers a spectacular view of the forces of nature in action.
Once we have finished photographing along the Golden Circle, we will head to relax at the fantastic Blue Lagoon and then to our hotel in Keflavik, putting the perfect end to a day full of adventures and discoveries.
Thank you for traveling with us and we hope you had a wonderful time exploring Iceland’s breathtaking landscapes. We wish you safe travels back home and hope to see you again in the future. Goodbye!

- Wi-Fi will be available in all hotels. For participants from outside Europe, if you wish, you can purchase a SIM card with data. You can buy one at the supermarket right in front of the luggage claim area. Flights to Iceland
Round-trip flights to Iceland from Europe and the United States cost approximately $400 to $800. You should book your flight to or from Keflavik International Airport (KEF).
We recommend arriving at Keflavik before 12:00 noon on the start day of the tour so you don’t miss the orientation session.
Some participants choose to arrive a day before the start of the tour, which could be an excellent idea to begin the journey well-rested, especially if you have had a long flight.

Meals and dinners are not included in the tour price. Generally, we will have breakfast at our accommodation and enjoy meals and dinners at local restaurants.
During the day, we might opt for snacks and picnics on some days to streamline and maximize our time dedicated to photography.
Since both supermarkets and restaurants are relatively expensive in Iceland, we suggest you be prepared to allocate approximately $60-$80 USD daily for your food expenses.

The October 2024 ICEMONKEY Photo Tour far exceeded our expectations. Guided by the incredible José Riquelme and Aritz Atela, we explored Iceland’s stunning landscapes while receiving expert photography and drone tips at every location. The tour wasn’t just about capturing breathtaking waterfalls, glaciers, beaches, geysers, and auroras—it was also about forming lasting bonds with a diverse group of photographers from around the world.
We ended the trip relaxing at the Blue Lagoon, reflecting on an unforgettable 10-day journey filled with laughter and shared passion for photography. Despite initial skepticism, this tour was a life-changing experience, and we’re already planning to join ICEMONKEY again. Highly recommended!

I joined the tour with my wife, who is not a photographer. Our main goals were to see aurora and landscapes of Iceland. We have achieved our goals way more than we had hoped for and we cannot be happier with the tour! The Icemonkey team did everything that they could to help us see the beautiful landscapes and aurora in the best locations possible. They even volunteered to take us to a location to take pictures of aurora though the time and location were not in the itinerary. They focused on helping us taking best shots guiding us with compositions and other techniques, instead of taking their own photos. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Icemonkey to our friends and family!
Thank you, Jose and Aritz!

As a photographer, I always wanted to travel to Iceland and learn some landscape photography tricks. Last year, I discovered Ice Monkey, a travel company with an itinerary focused on photography, showcasing Iceland's main natural attractions and hidden gems. After reviewing their information and the Ice Monkey team's portfolio, I knew I had found my guides.
The tour was everything they promised and more; they proved to be not only experts and professionals but also very friendly and fun. The choice of accommodations and restaurants was perfect. Even if you're not a photographer, you'll enjoy joining an Ice Monkey tour, but if you are, this will be one of the best experiences you've ever had.
